I’m traveling to Haiti tomorrow along with my husband and daughter. We going along with and organization called myLIFEspeaks. We’re staying at their campus in Neply, Haiti. As far as I know we will be playing the with kids in the village, helping with the feeding programs and anything else we can do to help. I am soooo excited and can’t wait to get there. I’m hoping to have lots of pictures to share of the children who are staying there on campus. Talk to you in a week 🙂
I’ve been trying to think about how to post this situation all day. This morning we got some potentially difficult news concerning our adoption from Haiti. It’s complicated stuff and I didn’t know exactly how to explain it. So when I got home today I researched, googled, and stalked every site I could to get the facts. I came across THIS blog explaining the problem so much better than I ever could. This family is at the same point in the adoption process as we are. And they are worried just like we are. But they know that God is ultimately in control of the things going on in Haiti. And she reminded me that we need to keep our eyes on Him. I’m trying so hard to do that.
Please pray for this situation: for our family and others who are trying to adopt Haitian children, for the government officials and orphanage staff who will have to navigate this transition, and of course, for the children in Haiti who are waiting for families. Thanks!
I’m so excited about how much progress we are making towards the completion of our adoption paperwork. Yay! I have to go to Nashville tomorrow to check on one of the certificates that we need and then we are just waiting on the home study draft to be sent to us to look over. Yay! I talked to the Vanderbilt International Adoption Clinic today. We will be going to have a consultation with a doctor there to clear up some things we need to know about accepting a referral. Yay! We are closing in on the process. So excited.
It’s my first day at home for the summer…Yay!!! So I’m cleaning, decluttering, trashing my whole house. Our case worker is coming on Thursday for our home visit and to finish up our home study. So excited but nervous at the same time. Pray that she will see how much we want this little boy and that he will be loved and accepted just as he is. I pray for him multiple times each day that God will protect him, guard his heart, and somehow give him a sense that he has parents that love him and are trying very hard to bring him home. I’ll let you know how our home visit goes on Thursday.
I posted this video a couple weeks ago on Facebook, but if you missed it please watch. It’s a short (less than 3 minutes) video on how you can pray for Haiti:
